Jose Cuervo Dance of the Dead

Jose Cuervo | 2017 | Technical Director

Interactive Installation / Projection Mapping / Motion Capture / VR AR XR

For Jose Cuervo’s one-night Dia de los Muertos celebration in SoHo, Sensorium built a suite of interactive installations that transformed illustrator Llew Mejia’s skeleton drawings into real-time 3D experiences. The event fused cultural tradition with emerging technology across four distinct activations.

Guests controlled projected skeleton characters through their body movements via Microsoft Kinect tracking. Todd built the immersive VR journey through Mejia’s illustrated world and tech directed the live motion-captured dance performance, where performers drove animated skeleton characters in real time. A holographic La Catrina projection completed the experience. Creative direction by John Fitzgerald and Matthew Niederhauser.
